Kenneth
R. Apple, 65, passed away peacefully at home Wednesday October 17,
2012 after battling cancer. He is survived by his wife, the love of
his life, Alice Johnson Apple, daughters Amy Moore (Keith) and
Carrie Aiken. Ken had three beloved grandchildren Molly Aiken, Haden
Moore, and Maxwell Moore, all of Memphis, TN. He is also survived by
a sister, Shirley Apple Jenkins of Baltimore, MD. Kenneth loved God,
his family, and the University of Memphis. He was born July 13, 1947
in Madison, TN where he played high school football. Ken was highly
recruited and chose the U. of M. where he attended 4 years,
1965-1969, excelling in football all 4 years. After college Kenneth
had a successful career in printing becoming President of Chauncey
Johnson Printing Co. His abilities in management and sales led to an
award winning career with AFLAC, where he was employed until his
death. He was a member of The Highland Hundred, The M Club, Liberty
Bowl Committee, President of the National Football Foundation Hall
of Fame and member of Chickasaw Country Club. He was loved by all
for his quick wit, great smile, and his infectious laugh. U of M
fans will notice the empty seat at the Liberty Bowl since he
attended almost every Tiger home football game since 1970. Kenneth
was a member of Second Presbyterian Church for over 40 years.
However, the memorial service will be held Monday, October 22 at 2
p.m. at Hope Presbyterian Church, 8500 Walnut Grove Rd. The family
asks, in lieu of flowers, that memorial donations be made to the
