Obituary

David Carl Armstrong, Murfreesboro, TN., age 51, died July 26 at the Alvin C. York Veterans Administration Hospice Unit in Murfreesboro, TN after a 13 year battle with brain cancer. He was born March 22, 1964 at Vanderbilt University Hospital in Nashville. Mr. Armstrong was preceded in death by grandparents, Virginia Burke and Maurice Armstrong of Sikeston, MO and Katherine Keeney and Carl J. Wright of Cape Girardeau, MO. Mr. Armstrong is survived by his parents Kay and Bill Armstrong of Murfreesboro, TN; a brother, Maurie (Claudia) Armstrong of Franklin, TN; and a sister, Susan (Frank) Louthan of Murfreesboro, TN. He is also survived by two nieces, Anna (Adam) Ackerman of Brentwood, TN and Allison (Alex) Lawhead of Nashville, TN and a nephew Michael David Louthan of Murfreesboro, TN. He also leaves aunts and uncles, Betty and Charles Wright of The Villages, FL; Sally and Don Metz of Poplar Bluff, MO; and Veronica and John Wright of Savannah, GA. Mr. Armstrong was a 1982 graduate of Madison High School. Additionally, he was a navy veteran serving aboard the carrier USS Carl Vinson CVN-70. He was a recent M.T.S.U. graduate completing his bachelor of science to become a teacher. His health prevented him from taking an offered teaching position. He loved the people of World Outreach Church in Murfreesboro where he was a part of the stage crew, singles small group and military group. Many of these friends were kind, supportive and by his side throughout his illness. Deep gratitude also goes to the staff of the York VA 's Hospice Unit. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with a memorial service to follow at 3 p.m. Pastor Timothy Posch will officiate.
