Dr. Andrew Neal Barrass, age 62, of Springfield, passed away Monday, February 3, 2014 at NorthCrest Medical Center. Visitation will be held Friday, February 7, 2014 at the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield from 4-8pm. Dr. Barrass was born December 21, 1951 in Owensboro, Kentucky to the late Nick Barrass, Jr. and Mrs. Barbara Jean Myers Barrass. He was a biology professor at Austin Peay State University and an avid duck hunter. In addition to his mother Dr. Barrass is survived by his wife, Mary Kay Barrass; brothers, Nick Barrass, III of New Orleans, LA and Greg (Michele) Barrass of Springfield; sister, Ellen (Dr. Rick) Parsons of Knoxville; nine nieces and nephews and two great-nieces and nephews and his sweet dog “Bonny”. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Ducks Unlimited in c/o Austin & Bell. Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield is in charge of these arrangements.
