Roy Kenneth Brawner age 80, died peacefully at home on December 2nd, 2019. Survived by his wife and companion of 55 years Brenda Faye Brawner. Loving Father of Connie Elizabeth Cole, Kenneth Royce Brawner, Dayna Tomlin, Amanda Parsley, and Amy Crowe. Proud grandfather of Dale Ford, Lana Ford, Candy Burnham, Clayton Brawner, Calister Brawner, Ashden Garrison, Dustin Parsley, Kailey Crowe, Savannah Crowe, Caleb Brawner, Eli Tomlin, and Ezra Tomlin. Rewarding great grandchildren of Erin Romines, Roger Romines, Lattie Beth Covington, Mathew Brawner, Braden Garrison, Aleah Brawner, and Emma Garrison. Brother of Tubby, Tommy and Harold Brawner along with Sisters Brenda Grogan and Francis Brawner. You may not have known Roy Brawner however; he was a strong man of faith with a commitment to church for his entire adult life. Roy used his artistic talents to share the good news of God by playing guitar and singing in Church and anywhere he felt appropriate, which in his opinion was anywhere and everywhere when a moment moved him. He made your life a little better and in most cases a great deal better. He didn't understand dishonesty because it never took anyone to a better place and that influenced all who knew him. He wasn't refined but he could assess the worth of something long before anyone said a word. No one, not a single soul, would want for comfort while he had a say in the matter and that endeared him to all. Unreliability wasn’t an adjective in his character make up. He was an incredibly loving and nurturing father not only to his biological children but any and all that would allow him. He felt we were all brothers, sisters, sons, and daughters of God and deserved to be treated as such. He was a more than dedicated employee from the Armed services straight to millwright duties at the Old Hickory DuPont plant. Retirement really didn’t change for him as he just went from part time to full time status as a transporter for any and all that needed a ride to church. He was going to get you there somehow or someway. There is a belief that our words and actions tell the truth of what we believe which means Christ is honestly replicated in everything we say and do. When we really examine the truth, we don’t always live the sort of faith the Bible teaches. We understand what God’s Word says and we may even think we’re living according to it, but there are few of us who actually exercise and execute pure Biblical Christianity; a life of complete obedience to God. Roy Brawner was one of those few and I believe he would be ecstatic to know we saw him in this way. His passing will leave a huge void in many people’s lives yet if we follow his lead we will see him again someday and what a blessing that will be. A celebration of Roy's life will be held 12pm Monday, December 9, 2019 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home with Pastor Alan Baggett officiating. Burial will follow in the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be held Sunday 2pm until 8pm and Monday 9am until 12pm at the funeral home.
