Survived by his wife of 60 years, Georgie Bridgeman; three children, James
(Chris) Bridgeman of Bethesda, Maryland, Paula (Jeff) Smith of Shelbyville,
Tennessee, and John (Lisa) Bridgeman of Nolensville, Tennessee; six
grandchildren, Ben (Kelly) Smith of Axis, Alabama, Steven (Liz) Smith of
White House, Tennessee, David and Rachel Bridgeman of Bethesda, and Ana and
Amy Bridgeman of Nolensville; two great-grandchildren, Naomi and Stetson
Smith of White House; one sister, Louise Paterna of Nashville; two
sisters-in-law, Wanda Hart of Searcy, Arkansas and Dorothy Jackson of
Nashville; and 12 nieces and nephews. He was a graduate of Harding College
and Peabody College. He was on the first faculty of Madison High School
(1953) and its assistant principal (1960-68), was principal of DuPont High
School (1968-71), and was the first high school principal of Goodpasture
Christian School (1971-88). The family will receive visitors on Friday, May
18th from 1-8 p.m. at Spring Hill Funeral Home, 5110 Gallatin Pike, and on
May 19th from 12-1 p.m. at Goodpasture Christian School, 619 Due West Ave.,
Madison; with a funeral service following at 1 p.m. on May 19th at
Goodpasture School. Interment in Spring Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be
Charles Bridgeman, James Gilliland, Adam Herrod, Tom Herrod, David Jackson,
Alan Paterna, David Sherman, and Tim Williams. Honorary Pallbearers will be
members of the high school faculty and staff of Goodpasture Christian School
between 1971 and 1988, BHCC Sonshiners, and the 1952-53 seventh grade class
at Dalewood School. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to
