Laura Dawn Buchanon Poteete passed away September 3, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born December 26, 1968 in Waverly, TN. Survived by family Todd Poteete; children Cassie (Glenn) Hunt, Brian Poteete, and Presley (Seth Davis) Poteete; parents Carol and Gene McCrary; birth father Eddie (Barbara) Buchanan; sisters Kimberly Buchanan, Misty Emery and niece Meghan Emery. Also, a very large loving family here and in Waverly of aunts, uncles, and cousins who have loved her greatly most of her life, if not all. Preceded in death by grandparents, Alford and Helen Robbins; Loyd and Betty McCrary and grandparents of the heart, C.W. and Oneida Adams. She loved her job at the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority and fought to be able to return. She had many good and supportive friends there that helped her fight, some she loved dearly. My little girl is an angel now. She lost the battle, but received a new home. I and your family will miss you all the days of our lives. God speed my baby as you will be forever young ~ Love, mama. We want to especially thank Kindred Hospice, Mila, Mona, Toni and others that helped out this past month. We are so grateful to the kind and wonderful friends who brought meals for the family for the last several weeks. All the acts of love and kindness has meant so much to all of us. Also, appreciation to Dr. Hemphill, Dr. Cohen and their staffs for the hard work to beat this, but it was not God’s plan. Laura’s wishes were to be cremated. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held Saturday, September 8, 2018, 5 p.m. with Bro. Kent Collier officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until service time.
