Gilda Elane (Bunch) York, age 57, passed away on Sunday,
September 23, 2018 in Old Hickory, Tennessee. Gilda was born on
December 19, 1960 in Glasgow, Kentucky to Willard Mervin Bunch and
Edith Bunch Meriwether.
Gilda was lovingly referred to as “Gilda - TheTuxLady” by those in
the community. She had a huge heart and would go out of her way to
help anyone. Her infectious laugh and love for life was always on
display. She will always be remembered for her giving spirit and the
countless hours of her time that she volunteered. She was heavily
involved with “everything” in the community; if a pillar holds it
up, Gilda was the pillar of our area. She both served as President
for and was on the board of several community focused organizations.
She was particularly proud of her “Ambassadors and Social Graces”,
teaching children manners, social etiquette, respect for themselves,
and service to the community.
Those who knew Gilda over the years say it was her sense of giving
back through the countless community groups she was involved in that
drove her.
Gilda is preceded in death by her father, Willard Mervin Bunch;
step-father, Fuller “Toby” Meriwether and a brother, Arnold Matthew
Bunch.
Gilda is survived by her husband of thirty-seven years, Bob York;
son, Trey York and his wife, Jaime; daughter, Lindsay York; mother,
Edith Bunch Meriwether; sister, Janice Annette Letson; and three
grandchildren, Robby, Zachar and Cora Mae York. She is also survived
by an abundance of relatives and friends.
