Obituary

Jesse "Jay" Cabler was born in Nashville, Tennessee on July 15th, 1962 ready for adventure. Finding skateboarding at a young age, it became an integral part of his life that shaped his outlook, way of thinking, formation of joy, and that birthright of adventure. He had a deep faith, and a love for art and design. When not on a skateboard, Jay filled his time with painting, creating graphics, building websites, and was involved in software production. Jay surrounded himself with individuals who appreciated the same joy of life that he did. Countless artists and skateboarders from all across the world have been impacted in a positive way by his generous spirit of encouragement and inclusion. Jay's love of skateboarding prompted him to start documenting his life's love early on. As a result, he became a historian of sorts for the Southeast skateboard scene as well as becoming a wealth of knowledge related to skateboarding world-wide. Jay loved his family dearly and his closest friends were fortunate to hear tales about his mother's love, grace, and creative pursuits. He was a graduate of the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts, and a Master's degree in Adult Education. He was a lifelong learner, relentlessly pursuing his many and varied interests. Jay is predeceased by his father, Dr. Jesse Keen Cabler, Jr. and is survived by his mother, Janice Pierson Cabler, his brother Dr. Jason (Angie) Cabler, sister Dr. Janna (Phillip) Ramsey, and nieces and nephews, Jake Ramsey, Trevor Cabler, Olivia Cabler, and Julianna Ramsey. In the skateboard world, it is evident that his legacy and influence will live on forever.
