Obituary

Oscar David Cline, age 76, died peacefully September 5 with his family by his side after a long illness. A native of Nashville, TN and son of the late Vesta Burnette Parker, he was the middle brother of the late John Ray Cline and Dr. E.G. Cline. He was a graduate of Madison High School where he was student body president, and Middle Tennessee State University. He was a member of Gallatin Road Baptist Church. He served in the National Guard. He began his career with Genesco in 1961. In 1991 he received a Superior Achievement Recognition Award (SARA) for his outstanding work as director of manufacturing with Jarman. In 1992 he was promoted to Vice President of Johnston & Murphy Manufacturing/Operations. He retired in 1999. Dave loved his family and friends. He loved nature, animals, fishing, wood working, and music. He was an avid hiker and a tremendous athlete, excelling in football, baseball, basketball, and golf. He had a keen intellect and a wonderful sense of humor. He was an incredible singer and guitarist, and enjoyed entertaining friends and family. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Anita Jewell Cline, his daughter Lori McComb and her husband Billy, and his son Ronnie. His dog Molly will miss him dearly. Friends may visit Monday, September 8 from 4-8 pm and Tuesday, September 9 from 1:00 pm until service time at Spring Hill Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 9 at 2:00 pm with burial to follow in Spring Hill Cemetery.
