Obituary

Troy Wade Davis, who touched the lives of many, passed away on Monday, August 28, 2023, at the age of 73. He was born on September 14, 1949, in Nashville, Tennessee, to the late Millard Cicero and Mary Estaleen (Eaves) Davis. Troy's journey was marked by love, dedication, and service. He embarked on a path of honor by joining the United States Marine Corps, where he served for six years. Following his military service, Troy's life moved to Hurricane Mills, where he embraced the role of a community leader and entrepreneur. In 1966, Troy took charge of the Best Western Motel and the adjoining Log Cabin Restaurant. Troy's influence reached beyond Hurricane Mills as he offered his expertise as a guiding force on the Board of Directors for Best Western International, serving as its Chairman for 2 terms. However, Troy's passions transcended the boardroom. In 1995, he acquired what would become DDD Farms, a testament to his unwavering commitment to hard work and dedication. His hands shaped the land, transforming it into a place of growth and vitality that will be cherished for many generations to come. Troy's zest for life led him outdoors, where he reveled in the joys of Duck and Big game hunting, and he showcased his angling skills as a professional on the FLW fishing circuit for numerous years. Troy's accomplishments were vast, but they were dwarfed by the love he held for his family. His devotion to his wife of 53 years, Joyce Elaine Vosika, was unwavering. Together, they nurtured a family that included three children: Nicole Davis Hight (Billy), Troy Wade Davis II (Melissa Webb), and Millard Corey Davis (Courtne’). Troy was the cherished Papa to seven grandchildren—Brityn Sain, Davis Sain, Hunter Davis, Cole Davis, Addison Davis, Rylee Davis, and Kimber Webb. His legacy is also carried on by his sisters, Denise Smith (Tommi) and Delsa Davis. Troy's impact was felt deeply in the hearts of all who knew him, leaving behind a tapestry of memories that will be treasured forever. Friends and family are invited to honor Troy's memory at Luff-Bowen Funeral Home in Waverly, Tennessee. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, August 30, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and Thursday, August 31, starting at 10:00 AM. The funeral service will commence at 1:00 PM on August 31, celebrating the life, legacy and a soul of the man we call Papa.
