Johnny E. Denney. March 29, 1940 — November 14, 2023. Gallatin. Johnny E. Denney, age 83, of Gallatin, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday, November 14, 2023. He was born on March, 29, 1940, to his parents Edmond and Ela Dovey Denney. As a young man, Johnny served in the United States Army. Following his service, Johnny worked at DuPont, in Old Hickory, Tennessee, for many years. Outside of work, Johnny had many hobbies and interest. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and hunting; both animals and arrow heads. He loved going on motorcycle rides, and appreciated show cars. Johnny also adored his little dog, ER. He was a great man, a great dad, and a hard worker. Johnny was well loved, and never met a stranger; he will be missed dearly. Mr. and Mrs. Denney have been members of Hendersonville First Baptist Church, for 52 years. The Denney family would like to extend a special thank you, to their church family. Especially Lonie Lopers, Sunday School Class, for their helping hand through Johnny's sickness. Johnny Edwin Denney is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Ann Denney; son, Jon Denney (Tammy Denney); daughter, LeAnne Escue (Todd Escue); grandchildren, Kristen Swafford (Zack Swafford), Kaylie Rhodes (Luke Rhodes), Zachary Escue; great grand children, Aiden Swafford, Abel Swafford, Asher Rhodes; and sister, Gayle Denney. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Rhonda Deann Denney; father, Edmond Denney; and his mother, Ela Dovey (Ricketts) Denney. Visitation with Denney family will take place on Friday, November 17, 2023, between 5:00 P.M. and 7:00 P.M., and again on Saturday, November 18, from 9:00 A.M., until 10:00 A.M.. The funeral service of Johnny E. Denney will be conducted from the Chapel of Crestview Funeral Home at 10:00 A.M., on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at 10:00 A.M.. Bro. Bruce Chester will be officiating. Military Honors will be rendered at 11:00 A.M., in Crestview Memory Gardens, with burial to immediately follow. Those serving as pall bearers will be, Zachary Escue, Todd Escue, Ronnie Harris, Zack Swafford, Luke Rhodes, and Joe Monick. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in memory of Johnny E. Denney, to either the American Diabetes Association, or the American Cancer Society.
