Obituary

James Edwin Garrett, 81, of Hendersonville, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, July 12, 2021. Born May 28, 1940 in Madison, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Francis Marion Garrett and Ruby Pauline Mabry Garrett. Ed was a loving father, husband, grandfather and great grandfather who will be missed dearly. He served his country proudly as a Captain in the United States Army. He had retired from DuPont Chemicals after 23 years of service and had worked in the loan industry for over 25 years. He enjoyed the outdoors, whether hiking or fishing. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Nancy Slaughter. Ed is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Cathy Garrett; son Mark (Kelley) Garrett; daughter Kim (Brian) Crane; grandson Tyler (Hannah) Garrett; granddaughter Megan Garrett; great grandchildren Rowan and Heath Garrett; sister Gail Overcash. A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 15, 2021 from 4 PM until 8 PM at Spring Hill Funeral Home in Nashville. A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held at 10 AM on Friday, July 16.
