Richard (Rick) Lewis Gray, 70 of Shelbyville departed this life following a stroke and multiple infections on Thursday, July 19, 2018 at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville with his family at his bedside. Preceding him in death were his parents, Harry Lewis Gray and Earline Dickens Gray, and his only brother, James Edward Gray in 2014. Rick is survived by his wife of almost fifty years, Linda Melson Gray, and their children: Chris (Kelly) Gray of Greenbrier, TN, Cory (Amber) Gray of Bell Buckle, TN and Kelly (Jay) Miles of White House, TN. Rick's greatest joy came from his six grandchildren: Isabella Gray, Cooper and Austin Miles, and Aspen, Shyla and River Gray. He was their "Pops" and they were his heart. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 23, 2018 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Cole and Garrett Funeral Home, Goodlettsville. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Gowen-Smith Chapel, 850 Union St., Shelbyville, TN with an hour of visitation immediately preceding the service. Burial will follow in Willow Mount Cemetery where he will be laid to rest beside his brother. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital in memory of their loved one. He was a monthly partner in Hope for many years. www.stjude.org.
