Claudia Griffin Layhew, May 7, 1950 — January 20, 2024, Madison, TN. Claudia Griffin Layhew, Age 73, of Madison, TN, passed away Saturday, January 20, 2024. Born May 7, 1950 in Greenville, South Carolina to Claude and Mary Griffin. Claudia attended Madison High School and was a longtime member of First Baptist Church, Madison. She married the love of her life, David W. Layhew, and was a stay-at home-mom until she earned her certification in accounting and joined Peterbilt Motor Company in 1987. She worked there until retiring June 1, 2009. After retirement she found joy taking care of her grandchildren, gardening, reading, and her beloved rescue dogs. She is survived by her son David W. Layhew, Jr. (Teresa); daughter, Kimberly L. Harris (Bryan); grandchildren, David D. Layhew (Emily); Anna Harris (Jeff); Griffin Layhew (Abby); Sara Harris (Howard); Evan Gomez (Danielle); great grandson Braxton Gomez; brother, John Griffin; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, & in-laws. She is preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Mary Griffin; husband, David W. Layhew; sister, Betty Joann Sandefur; in-laws, Lloyd & Dorothy Layhew, Lloyd Jr & Stanley Layhew; Debbie & Walter Swierk. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 30, 2024, from 9:30am to 1:30pm, with a Memorial Service to follow at 1:30pm, at Madison Funeral Home, 219 E. Old Hickory Blvd., Madison, TN 37115. Interment will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery, 5110 Gallatin Pike S, Nashville, TN 37216. PallBearers will be Bryan Harris, Brad Layhew, David D Layhew, Griffin Layhew, Evan Gomez, & family friend, Chris Clinard. Memorial Contributions may be made to Claudia's favorite Charity, St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
