Kate Miles Higgins passed away May 17, 2015. She was born June 6, 1922, the daughter of the late Harry and Luby Miles of Murfreesboro, TN. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe W. Higgins, Sr. of Gallatin, TN; her son, Harry M. Higgins, Sr. of Gallatin, TN; brothers, Harry Hicks Miles, F.W. Miles, Dr. Robert M. Miles, James Cason Miles; sister, Luby Hays Miles. She is survived by her daughter, Kathryn Lynne Smith Gaines of Manchester, TN; her son, Joe W. Higgins, Jr. and his wife Carolyn Higgins; eight grandchildren; several great grandchildren. While in Gallatin she was a faithful member of Nashville Road Church of Christ. She taught school in Waynesboro, TN, Christiana, TN, Stratton Elementary School and Madison High School in Madison, TN where she taught English, Latin and French. She traveled extensively around the world and even went on mission trips to Panama and Peru. Visitation with the family will be 12 noon, Tuesday, May 19, 2015 until time of Chapel service at 2 p.m. William Hayes will officiate with burial at Riverside Cemetery in Woodbury, TN.
