Obituary

Gwynn DeWitt Howell, age 67 of Madison, TN passed away January 3, 2024. He was born in Madison, TN on February 26, 1956. Operating the family business established in 1938, Mr. Howell was a 3rd generation real estate agent and auctioneer. He was a graduate of Madison High School Class of 1974 and attended Belmont University. He was a member of the Auctioneer Association, a member of the Nashville Board of Realtors, a member of Madison Masonic Lodge #762, a member of the Scottish Rite, a member of Al Menah Shrine and Clowns, a proud member of the Tennessee Squire Association, Past President of Madison Brothers, and a Tennessee Pride Sausage Boy. He is survived by his mother, Juanita Howell; Wife, Donna Howell; Children, Micah Howell, Zack (Shelley) Howell, and Chris (Chelsea) Carter; Grandchildren, who lovingly referred to him as “Happy”, Caroline Draper, Cayden Hoke, Layne Howell, Walt Carter, Maisley Gentry, Welles Carter, and Whit Carter. Mr. Howell passed peacefully surrounded by family. He was an amazing son, husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was a lover of his farm, the Lord, his family, telling jokes, woodworking, and Diet Coke. Gwynn Howell never met a stranger and whoever crossed paths with him never will forget his infectious smile and pure joy. He was a hardworking man who loved what he did. Gwynn DeWitt Howell (Happy) will always be remembered and will always hold a special place in our hearts. Visitation will be held at Phillips-Robinson Funeral Home, 2707 Gallatin Pike, Nashville, TN 37216 on Wednesday, January 10th from 4pm until 8pm, with a Masonic service at 7pm, and Thursday, January 11th from 11am until his Celebration of Life at 12 pm at City Road Chapel, 701 Gallatin Pike S, Madison, TN 37115. Pallbearers will include Billy Hugh Howell III, Zack Howell, Cayden Hoke, Layne Howell, Cooper Howell, Billy Hugh Howell IV, Chris Carter, and Micah Howell. Acting as Honorary Pallbearers will be Gerry McMahon, Don Traylor, Eddie Shelby, Bob DaMore, Eddie Cope, Bobby Smith, Mike Leggett, Amon Ringemann, Roger Perry, and Robert Travis Howell
