Emily Litton Stinson, 77, of Madison, Tennessee, gained her heavenly wings on Friday, September 16, 2022. Born July 21, 1945, in Nashville, she was the daughter of the late James Polk Litton and Clara Belle Lansden Litton. Emily was a ‘force of nature’. She was an elementary school teacher and program coordinator who oversaw the creation of Metro Nashville’s gifted student program. She was extremely proud of being a lifelong member of City Road Chapel United Methodist Church. Emily was deeply involved in the church and had taught bible study, Sunday school, and served as Vacation Bible School Director and was the Director of Christian Education. Her family will remember her for her love of gospel music, a good conversation, and laughing with her friends. She played the organ, piano, as well as the bass clarinet. She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend who will be missed dearly. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her best friend, husband and soul mate Dan Stinson. She is survived by her son, Tony (Kay) Stinson; grandsons Steven Stinson and Brian Stinson; and a host of dear friends. Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 21, from 4 pm until 8 pm at Spring Hill Funeral Home in Nashville. Pastor Jay Voorhees will conduct a Celebration of Life Service on Thursday, September 22 at 10 am at City Road Chapel United Methodist Church 701 Gallatin Road S, Madison, TN. The family will accept friends and visitors one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Historic Spring Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brian Stinson, Steven Stinson, Jay McCulley, Tony McCulley, Richard Scott, and Ray Hagewood.
