Obituary

Van Nelson McCormack, Sr. of Goodlettsville, TN passed away on Friday, March 17, 2023 at his home with family by his side. He was 75 years old. Van was born in May 1947, to the late Mary Ruth Bennett and B.A. McCormack. He was a graduate of Madison High School class of 1966 and worked many years as a Real Estate Broker and Auctioneer, before retirement. Van served throughout his life with a servant’s heart in multiple Bible centered ministries including: Sunday school director and teacher, prison ministries, numerous prayer groups, community outreach programs and sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. He really enjoyed meeting and talking with people and he especially loved talking about the Holy Bible. Mr. McCormack is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Sarah E. McCormack; his son and daughter-in-law Van N. & Dawn McCormack of Portland, TN; daughter and son-in-law Karen & Scott Johnson of Goodlettsville, TN; his grandchildren Trent & Katy McCormack and Cooper, Bryce & Tanner Johnson; great grandchildren Trace McCormack and Rylan Huntsman; his sister Carolyn Tidwell, as well as many other beloved family and dear friends. A Visitation will be held on Monday, March 20, 2023 from 4:00pm -8:00pm and again on Tuesday, March 21st beginning at 10:00am -12:00pm. Funeral Chapel service officiated by Pastor Joseph M. Lang to begin at 12pm, all at Forest Lawn Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, 1150 S. Dickerson Pike, Goodlettsville, TN 37072. Interment will follow the Chapel services, on March 21st at Beech Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 3216 Long Hollow Pike, Hendersonville, TN 37075. Honored to serve as pall bearers will be: Daniel Grimsley, Trent McCormack, Cooper Johnson, Robert Hunter, Bill Flatt and Ron Gregory. Honorary pallbearers will be Lee Hall, Eddie Wayne McCormack, David Pitzer, Dale Eubanks, Charles Moore, Gilbert Ashburn, Jeff Munday and Phillip Austin.
