Obituary

Joyce Ann McKinnon Wingfield departed this earth on Sunday, March 28, 2021 while at home surrounded by her loving family. Joyce was born October 29, 1949 in Nashville, Tennessee. She grew up in Madison, Tennessee and was a 1967 graduate of Madison High School. Upon graduation, she married the love of her life, David. She moved to Fairbanks, Alaska as David was stationed there in the army. They briefly lived in Tacoma, Washington before moving back home to Tennessee to raise their family. Joyce was beautiful inside and out. She was a joy and a blessing to anyone that knew her. She was selfless and found such joy in giving and caring for others -- especially her family who will miss her greatly. Her greatest delight was spending time with her husband, children, and grandchildren. Nana loved to laugh, have a ton of fun and spoil her grandchildren. She also thoroughly enjoyed spending time at her beach house in Florida where she would sit in the sun, listen to the ocean, and read for a long as she wanted. Her kind, nurturing, and gentle spirit will never be forgotten and lives on in her children and grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her loving son, Chad; her parents, Billy and Margaret McKinnon; her siblings, Vickie Stewart and Mike McKinnon; and her father and mother in law, Cecil and Nina Wingfield. She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, David; her daughters, Cherie Smith (Marc) and Charity Hicks (Chris); adoring grandchildren, Anna and Lilly Smith and Colby and Caroline Hicks; Siblings, Rickie McKinnon and Lisa Tyler (Brad); Brother and Sister in Law, Paul and Lisa Wingfield; Brother in Law, Woody Wingfield as well as many nieces and nephews. Services for Joyce will be Friday, April 2, 2021 at Hendersonville Memory Gardens and Funeral Home; 353 E. Main Street, Hendersonville, TN 37075 with her brother in law, Paul Wingfield, officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. with Funeral Service to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Joyce's memory to www.foundationforwomenscancer.org.
