Obituary

Ira Stephen North, Sr. died peacefully in his home on December 28, 2020. He was 79 years old, and he was most commonly known as Steve. He was also widely known as 'Pop.' Steve North was an attorney for over 50 years, and he served a full eight-year term as a Circuit Court Judge. He also served as a part-time preacher and Sunday School teacher for over 50 years. He was a husband, a father, a grandfather and great-grandfather, an uncle, a brother and a friend. He was a good man. He graduated from Madison High School and David Lipscomb College. He received his Law Degree at Vanderbilt University. He is preceded in death by his father Ira Lutts North, his mother Avon Delphine North and his brother Dr. K. Timothy North. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, JoAnn North, his brother Phillip L. North and his sister Dolley Rennie. He is also survived by his sons Stephen North, Jr., Don Mark North (Kristin) and David Paul North (Cherri Beth); grandchildren Anthony North (Alison), Karly North, Lara Harris (Will), JoCee North, Lily North and Myra North, and great-grandchildren Carter North, Ian North, Grace Harris and Ashton North. A private service will be held at the North Family Farm in Neely's Bend. The grandchildren will serve as Pallbearers, and the great-grandchildren will serve as Honorary Pallbearers. In lieu of flowers please send donations to Inner City Ministry and Church of Christ Disaster Relief.
