Obituary

Paw was born in Shelbyville, Tennessee on November 27, 1940. Passed away on December 16, 2020 at age “80”. Survived by loving wife, Carolyn Sanders: Children, Ron (Jan) Elliott, Woody (Sherry) Sanders, Jeff (Jan) Sanders, Gary (Theresa) Elliott, Ray (Marie) Elliott, and Georgia Willette. Fourteen (14) grandchildren, and eleven (11) great-grandchildren. Paw grew up in Shelbyville, Tennessee. He was a country boy in all aspects. This foundation would be the start of a passionate life full of encounters that are too many to number. Encounters that would leave the other person forever changed. Paw had a fifty (50)+ year career as a Butcher/Meat Manager in the grocery store industry. Paw and Nannie were married for forty-seven (47) loving years. They had a true love others only dream about. At a very young age, Paw was smart as a whip and even smarter as the years pasted. Some of Paw’s passions included travel, history, music, family, and crossword puzzles. Simply put, he loved people! He was gifted with an impeccable ability to recall “all” his life stories, as far back as age two (2). We were the fortunate ones who sat across from Paw, listening as he spared no detail with each story. They were fascinating stories and most all included a life lesson. He literally never met a stranger. Those of you that have had the “privilege” to have Paw in your lives, in some way, shape or form, know firsthand the impact this man has left on your heart. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest a memorial donation to either of Paw’s favorite charities: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and International Fellowship of Christian and Jews. A celebration of life will be held at 2pm on the afternoon of Saturday, December 19th, 2020 at Hendersonville Funeral Home with visitation starting at 10am until the start of the service.
