Obituary

Sandra Jean Scott Matthews, age 59, of Nashville and formerly of Robertson County, passed away Sunday, January 25, 2015 at her home. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2pm at the Martin’s Chapel Methodist Church with Dr. Apelu Poe and Mark Forrester officiating. Burial will follow in the Martin’s Chapel Cemetery with Randy Wilson, Jeff Wilson, Kenny Hix, Eddie Wooden, Sam Wilson and Glen Harper serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held at the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 from 4-8pm and at the church on Thursday from noon until the hour of service. Ms. Matthews was born July 9, 1955 in Springfield to Freddie “Hambone” and Mary Edna Wilson Scott. She worked as a Registered Nurse at Memorial Hospital and was a member of the Martin’s Chapel Methodist Church. Ms. Matthews is preceded in death by her grandparents and infant sister, Janice Marie Scott. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her brothers, Terry (Janice) Scott of Springfield, Britt (Rosemary) Scott of Springfield and Johnny Scott of Madison; nieces, Julie McDonald of Smyrna, Ashley Saxon of Jackson, Jessica Des Ruisseaux of Louisville, KY and Brittany Woodard of Springfield; and a host of loving great-nieces and nephews, cousins, and aunts and uncles. The family requests memorial contributions be made to “AA” or to the United Way and may be sent in c/o Austin & Bell. Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield is in charge of these arrangements.
