Obituary

Sandra Sue Vargas, age 74, died in the home of her daughter in Rathdrum, Idaho, on Friday, November 10, 2017, after a long battle against Parkinson's disease and dementia. Born November 5, 1943, in Franklin, Kentucky, to Frank Butler Sloan and Mae Ozelle Biggs, she attended Madison High School in Madison, Tennessee. At 18 years old, she moved to Fairfield, California, where she met and married David Vargas, her husband of 50 years, on August 26, 1967.Sandra lived in many different places over the years including Fairfield and Antioch, in California, and San Tan Valley and Prescott Valley, in Arizona. She had a long career as a grocery clerk with Raley's, a local supermarket chain in northern California and Nevada. She was active in various Southern Baptist churches in the different places that she lived. She is survived by her husband, David Vargas, and her children: James Vargas of Forth Worth, Texas; Sherri Ferronato of Antioch, California; Teresa Morgado of Rathdrum, Idaho; and David Vargas of Maricopa, Arizona. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, mother, and brother, Bobby Jo Sloan. A memorial service will be planned for a future date in California. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to your local Alzheimer's Association.
