Ann Wall Smithson Harrison. Ann went peacefully to be with the Lord on January 7, 2020. Ann is preceded in death by her parents Jake Smithson and Mary Louise Smithson and her beloved husband Allen, who died on July 13, 2012. She is survived by her son Jim, his wife Lori and their three children Emily, Jay, and Brady, and by her son John, his wife Lisa and their three children Cole, David, and Anna Clarke. Ann was a graduate of East High School, where she served as class secretary, and Vanderbilt University (B.A., Education and History, 1961). She taught for a year at Madison High School before her marriage to Allen in June 1961. In her later years, Ann worked as a private guide and driver for authors and actors in Nashville on media tours. Ann never missed a social event and was active in the Nashville and Tennessee Dental Auxiliaries, her Friends and Neighbors Garden Club, and Centennial Club. Ann and Allen lived in Hendersonville on Old Hickory Lake for over forty years and enjoyed sunset boat rides with friends, homemade peach ice cream with grandkids (who called her “GrandAnn”), and traveling the world. A highlight of her life was serving in Japan teaching English as a missionary. Ann was a member of Christ Presbyterian Church. She spent her final years needing constant medical care, and the family is grateful to the caregivers at Lakeshore The Meadows and Alive Hospice for the love and attention they showed to Ann. Ann lived a full and abundant life. Her family is confident that she is resting with her Savior. Visitation will take place Saturday, January 18, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Spring Hill Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 PM with Pastor Buzz Graham officiating.
