Will T. Vance, Nashville, TN, Age 76. Will lived an inspirational
life devoted to God, church, family and friends. He passed away
peacefully on November 3, 2015 after a lengthy illness. He was born
on January 28, 1939 in Macon County, Tennessee. The son of the late
Jack and Virgie White Vance, he grew up with an older brother,
Randall, whom he adored. Will is survived by his wife of 50 years,
Carol Derrick Vance. He is also survived by their son, Ben;
daughter-in-law, Jan; granddaughters, Caroline, Mary Catherine and
Charlotte; brother, Randall; sister-in-law, Ruth, and two nephews,
Randy and Barry. Will graduated from Madison High School in 1957
where he played basketball and baseball, and sang in the chorus. He
graduated from David Lipcomb College in 1961 and later earned a
graduate degree from the LSU School of Banking. Nearly all of his
36-year banking career was spent with Third National Bank, later
SunTrust. After an early retirement, he served as a consultant to
various companies, and enjoyed several years of working in
development at Lipscomb University. Will was always an athlete at
heart, enjoying playing and watching various sports. One of the joys
of his life was coaching his son's baseball teams. He also took
great pleasure in traveling with family & friends, serving in civic
affairs, and sitting on numerous boards. He was an alumnus of
Leadership Nashville. He faithfully served his country for six years
in the Air National Guard. Will was a member of Hillsboro Church of
Christ where he served as a deacon and elder. His family is grateful
for the support of the church, family, friends, and Alive Hospice. A
graveside service will be held at Pinehaven Memorial Gardens in
Scottsboro, Alabama at 1 p.m. on Friday, November 6, 2015. The
family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday,
November 7, 2015 at Hillsboro Church of Christ, prior to a
Celebration of Life at the church at 2 p.m., with reception
following. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hillsboro
