David Ray Weatherspoon. Born in Madison, TN on July 14, 1938. Departed on July 3, 2016 and resided in Hendersonville, TN. Mr. Weatherspoon passed away on Sunday, July 3, 2016 at seventy-seven years of age after suffering from multiple health issues for the past several months. David was born on July 14, 1938 in Madison, Tennessee. He attended J. Taylor Stratton Elementary School, one year at Isaac Litton High School, and graduated from Madison High School. He was in the first graduating class at Madison High School in 1956. During high school, David played basketball and served as team captain. David was a paperboy while in high school, and later worked at Master Market Food Store. Sometime later, he was a salesman for Odom’s Tennessee Pride Sausage Company. He retired from The Kroger Company after thirty years of dedicated service in distribution. He was also a member of the Teamster’s. He was preceded in death by his parents David Richard and Virginia Choate Weatherspoon. David is survived by his wife, Wilma Jean “Mickey” Hale Weatherspoon; children, Billy Wayne (Carrie) Weatherspoon, David Glenn (Myra) Weatherspoon; granddaughter, Amanda Weatherspoon (Stan) Pack; grandson, Christopher Wayne (Ali) Weatherspoon; and sister, Betty Weatherspoon Wood. He is also survived by uncles and several cousins. His retirement was spent raising vegetables (mostly tomatoes) and working in his yard. Additionally, David had a passion for woodworking and made several pieces for his family. The family will receive visitors on Wednesday from 4 p.m.-8 p.m. and again on Thursday from 9 a.m.-11 a.m. A Celebration of Life will be held following visitation on Thursday at 11 a.m. All will be held at the funeral home.
