Obituary

WOODS, Gale M., age 73 of Hendersonville, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Monday, January 14, 2013. He fought a long and courageous battle with cancer. He is preceded in death by his son, Michael in 2010, (cancer); parents, Denton and Orlean Woods and his close friends, Carl Bailey, Lloyd Jones, Jerry Smith and Ken Donnell. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 49 years, Pamela; daughter, Cindy (Stacey) Thurman; daughter-in-law, Tami Woods; grandchildren, Malarie, Charlie and Sam Woods, Ali and Tanner Thurman; sister, Fayla Briley; brother-in-law, Jerry (Donia) Aker; nephews and niece, Don and Cary Briley and Jeremy and Susan Aker; his beloved animals, LillyBelle, Keegan, Seal and Emma. Gale graduated from Madison High School in 1957 and attended Vanderbilt University in 1961 where he received his BS in Electrical Engineering. He served in the Army National Guard. He worked for a year at Florida Power and Light before working at Dupont Company in Old Hickory where he retired with 38 years of service. He served faithfully on the board of directors at Old Hickory Credit Union for many years. He was an avid golfer and cherished time spent with friends. Gale was a member of Goodlettsville Church of Christ and former member of Madison Church of Christ. A special thanks to TN Oncology at Centennial, Dr. Howard Burris, Jan Hronek and Dedi McComb. Active pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews. Honorary pallbearers, Madison H.S. Gale cherished the Lord, his family and friends and we will always carry his memory in our hearts. Family will receive friends 4-8pm Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at Cole and Garrett, Goodlettsville. Service will be at 11am Wednesday at Goodlettsville Church of Christ with visitation 1hr. prior to the service. Bro. Charles Baugh and Bro. Lee Hickerson and Bro. Cody Boston to officiate. Singing will be led by Robert Whitehead with lifetime memories shared by Donald Deering.
